WEST VIRGINIA

Warming centers annou​nced in region with bitter cold temperatures expected (WCHS TV), below are West Virginia Shelters mentioned in the article: 

Kanawha County: Salvation Army, 301 Tennessee Ave in Charleston from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, Saturday, Dec. 24, and Sunday, Dec. 25, according to a news release from the United Way of Central West Virginia.

Clay County: Open noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Fairview Baptist Temple on Main Street in Clay.

Logan County: THREE locations are on standby to be activated as warming centers: The Logan Resource Center, Tracy Vickers Community Center and Cora Fire Department have been selected as warming center locations. Anyone needing transportation to those locations may contact Logan EOC at 304-752-7662.

Fayette County:

  • at Warm Hands Warm Hearts located at 319 Main Street East in Oak Hill. Once the temperature reaches 15 degrees or below, they will open at 8 p.m. and will close at 7 a.m. each day.
  • At Midland Trail Community Center in Ansted, will open at noon Friday through Monday morning.
