Facing border pressures, Biden officials pledge tougher enforcement (The Washington Post)  CBS news reports that Biden officials released an updated post-Title 42 plan  which includes 1. surging personnel and resources to the southern border; 2. expanding migrant processing capacity; 3. deporting, detaining or prosecuting some migrants; 4. securing assistance from border organizations, 5. cracking down on human smugglers and 6. deterring migration across the Western Hemisphere, including the expansion of a fast-track deportation process created in 1996, to deport migrants who do not ask for humanitarian refuge or who fail initial asylum screenings. Officials said asylum-seekers fleeing violence will have access to humanitarian protection.
