  • Louisiana - CBS News Evening News reported Saturday that with over a month to go until the official start of hurricane season, severe weather and flooding are already taking a toll on portions of Louisiana. The Coast Guard is still searching for missing people after a commercial ship capsized last Tuesday in the Gulf of Mexico due to high seas and hurriance-force winds. This year hurricane season is expected to be more active than normal with 18 named storms — including eight hurricanes and three major hurricanes —predicted to hit the Atlantic Basin between June 1 and November 30.
  • US West - The Associated Press reports reservoirs in the U.S. West are projected to shrink to historic lows in the next few months, dropping to levels that could trigger the federal government’s first-ever official water shortage declaration.
  • Mid-West - AccuWeather is tracking a potent cold front that will bring a swath of snow and cold to the Rockies Monday and progress eastward. Snow will start to fall across Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri early on Tuesday, before moving into Iowa, Illinois and Indiana into Tuesday afternoon. A swatch of snow stretching from Missouri into Maine could leave as much as 15 inches of snow Tuesday through Wednesday night. They heavy, wet snow may down trees and power lines causing power outages in some areas.
  • Georgia - WXIA-TV (GA) reports federal help may soon be on the way for the town of Newnan, which was devasted by an EF-4 tornado three weeks ago
  • Mississippi - WLBT-TV (MS) reports the state has submitted a disaster declaration request for 31 counties were impacted by the February’s winter storms, which led to widespread power outages, icy road conditions, and damage to numerous municipal water treatment systems.
