  • 180,000 Californians rely on federally backed flood insurance. Trump could overhaul the system (the LA times) - The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), administered by FEMA, underpins more than a million policies nationwide, but the Trump administration is weighing whether to overhaul or even eliminate it radically. Experts warn that without NFIP, homeowners could face skyrocketing premiums from private insurers or no coverage, jeopardizing real estate markets and disaster recovery.
