•  $575k FEMA-approved reimbursement part of DOGE review process: NC Emergency Management (WLOS News 13) - “Defend the Spend" is part of the review process for FEMA reimbursements for cities and counties waiting on Helene recovery funds in WNC. A spreadsheet featuring more than 250 projects, including FEMA-approved projects, indicates that the projects are “obligated," but funds have not yet been sent to cities and counties. The article says there is a 30-day hold for additional requests for information from DOGE and that it can take 30-90 days between obligation and the ability to draw down on the funds.
