Power outages reported after storm hits Tornado, WV area

‚ÄčUPDATE: As of 2:30 a.m. Friday morning, AEP reports they have restored power to all but roughly 200 customers in the Tornado, West Virginia area. The largest remaining pocket of outages is being reported in Cabell County, West Virginia between the towns of Milton and Ona. Roughly 1,500 outages are reported in areas along Route 60, Howell's Mill Road and Pritchard Road.

AEP reports roughly 1,400 customers are without power in the area around Tornado, West Virginia. The outages come after a heavy storm hit around 6 p.m.

The Tornado Volunteer Fire Department says it responded to a number of reports of damage from that storm including trees on homes and power lines, power lines down and even one instance of a flooded basement.  The department says crews spent time in the Big Bend Subdivision, along Coal River Rd. past Smith Creek Rd. to Big Bend Golf Course.

The fire department opened its doors to people without power.  A generator was set up to allow people to charge devices they may need.
