Governor Tomblin Announces State Assistance in Place at FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers

 
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (July 05, 2016) – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today announced representatives from a number of state agencies are now stationed at Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Recovery Centers to provide state assistance to residents and businesses affected by last week’s flooding. 

 
“As cleanup continues in communities across the state, so many of our residents and small business owners are also taking steps to get back on their feet and on the road to rebuilding their homes and lives,” Gov. Tomblin said. “That’s why I have directed a number of our state agencies to travel to FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Centers to help those affected by these devastating floods get the state resources they need. I am grateful for the continued efforts of our emergency responders, non-profit organizations and volunteers who remain hard at work helping our friends and neighbors. I also appreciate the support of our congressional delegation and federal partners to help provide critical resources to West Virginians in need.”

 
Representatives from state agencies including the Governor’s Office, Department of Health and Human Resources, Division of Motor Vehicles, West Virginia National Guard, Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, Workforce West Virginia, State Tax Department, Insurance Commissioner’s Office and more will be available to help residents and small business owners get the resources they need. Students from West Virginia University’s College of Law will also be on hand to help residents complete FEMA and state agency forms and providing advice on how to obtain legal services.

To locate a Disaster Recovery Center near you, visit asd.fema.gov/inter/locator/home.htm or call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Callers should dial option 3 to talk to an agent. Disaster Recovery Centers are also staffed by FEMA representatives to provide affected residents with one-on-one assistance in registering for federal aid.
