Financial Preparedness, Are you Ready

9/18/2025

September is

National Preparedness Month

Are you financially prepared?

You’ve worked hard to care for your home and save for the future, but disasters can lead to financial emergencies, like a

damaged roof, a flat tire, or unexpected medical expense. During these stressful times, having access to personal financial documents, insurance and medical policies, and other important records, is crucial for starting the recovery process.

Consider the following:

  • Keep an emergency savings account.

  • Keep a small amount of cash in a safe accessible place.

  • Store important documents in a safety deposit box, external drive or on the cloud in a secure password protected platform.

  • Review insurance policies regularly. Ensure you have the right types and amounts of coverage.

  • Do you need Flood Insurance? Even if you are not in a flood zone, you can still be impacted. Most home & rental insurance policies do not cover floods. Learn more atFloodSmart.gov
