AEP reports roughly 1,400 customers are without power in the area around Tornado, West Virginia. The outages come after a heavy storm hit around 6 p.m.

The Tornado Volunteer Fire Department says it responded to a number of reports of damage from that storm including trees on homes and power lines, power lines down and even one instance of a flooded basement.  The department says crews spent time in the Big Bend Subdivision, along Coal River Rd. past Smith Creek Rd. to Big Bend Golf Course.

The fire department opened its doors to people without power.  A generator was set up to allow people to charge devices they may need.
