HEAT ADVISORIES in WV through Saturday

Heat Advisory has been issued by National Weather Service from June 20 through June 22. Heat Index can go up 100 to 105, depending on location. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Heat Safety Tips

  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Stay in an air-conditioned room
  • Stay out of the sun
  • Check up on relatives and neighbors.
  • Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
  • Keep Pets inside. Walk in early morning or late evening. HOT pavement can burn paws!
Take extra precautions when outside.
  • Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing.
  • Limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
  • Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
  • To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
  • Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.​  See signs of Heat Illness in graphic below.
