Governor Declares State of Emergency - Winter Storm

As heavy snow fronts move in across the state, Gov. Tomblin has declared a statewide State of Emergency, activating state resources to respond to winter weather conditions and ensure the safety of West Virginians. Gov. Tomblin issued a State of Preparedness on Wednesday, allowing the National Guard and other state agencies to pre-position resources that may be needed during the storm.

REMINDER: A State of Emergency declaration does not close roads, restrict travel or mandate the closing of schools or businesses. In addition, a State of Emergency declaration does not guarantee federal assistance.

West Virginians needing assistance should contact their local offices of emergency management. Contact information for each county office can be found at 1.usa.gov/1ZN8Ouy.
