Dunbar Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program to Hold Disaster Simulation Training Exercise

​Dunbar, W.Va. – The newly-formed Dunbar Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, organized and led by the Dunbar City Police Department, will hold a disaster simulation training exercise Saturday, Dec. 28, 8:00 p.m., at the Dunbar Recreation Center, along with members of the Dunbar Police Department Reserves.

The exercise is part of the CERT training program that teaches citizens how to prepare for and respond to emergencies and natural disasters. CERT team and Reserve members will conduct mock disaster-related response activities to include small fire suppression, damaged/collapsed building search and rescue, medical triage, medical first aid, and National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) protocols and procedures.

Media are invited to attend the exercise and interview participants and CERT management team members on the focus and importance of the CERT program for Dunbar and surrounding communities, including how citizens and volunteers can get involved in future CERT training classes.
