Gov. Justice proclaims Dec. 4-8 as Winter Weather Awareness Week

Charleston, WV - Gov. Jim Justice has proclaimed the week of December 4-8, 2017, as Winter Weather Awareness Week.

West Virginia is vulnerable to various types of winter weather, including extremely cold temperatures, dangerous wind chills, ice storms, snowstorms and freezing rain.

Winter weather can cause injury and death through hypothermia, frost bite, heart attack, stroke, traffic accidents and other related cause. The loss of life and property during winter months can be greatly reduced if West Virginians take appropriate preparedness measures before, during and after experiencing winter weather.
